The band is called ZIRA, and this title is analogous to the name of oriental spices which fully complies with the art of the musicians who mix oriental tunes, Balkan rhythms, Slavic singing, medieval music with minimalism, post-classics and even rock. ZIRA is an acronym for Zemskyi I Reznichenko Ansambl (Zemskyi & Reznichenko’s Ensemble). The duet of Dmytro Zemskyi and Oleg Reznichenko has already been an exotic combination by itself because having graduated from Odessa Conservatoire majoring in guitar Dmytro was a successful contestant of many professional music festivals in Ukraine and abroad while Oleg studied music by himself participating in different trash-metal, heavy-metal-jazz and post-punk projects.
The ZIRA talking about themselves:
We play our own music using various exotic instruments, unusual sounds of which help us travel throughout the landscapes of the human soul. The ZIRA duet is realization of music influence of different cultures upon the Slavic soul, meeting of the East and West, the past and the present. People always think of simple things like love and death, good and evil. We want to remind you of them.
