December, 14 and 15 — Port Mone (Byelorussia) & vj Makaura (Lithuania)

Trio Port Mone is a new discovery of independent Byelorussian scene. Their debut album «DIP» had collected the great amount of positive reviews in music mass media. The characteristic of the style of Port Mone in short  - this is experimental electro-aucustic embient. You can compare the Oleksiy Vorsoba accordion playing style with the Kimmo Pohyonen or Dino Salucci ones, but Port Mone never uses others` creative ideas.

«DIP» (notes — for today it is the only album of the band) sounds like the soundtrack for art-house film about wild nature. It is very difficult to create such multilevel record, which in the same time  disarms you with its simplicity as well.

Port Mone is absolutely new phenomenon, which is difficult to measure with any style forms, as far as the music of trio is a rather peculiar mix of embient, noise, experimental and classic folk. The band does not try to look as avangard one, although, in the very sence, that thing, which they are doing, is avangard itself.

The music of Port Mone is able to subjugate anyboby with its spontaneous generosity of rather different people  — of different age, status, and even music sympathy. The admires of this band are characterized with ability to feel the world, that surrounds us – both it and ours reflections, interactions and interdependency. Port Mone suggects rather sensitive knowledge of the world. Sometimes it is light, innitial, but sometimes it is nervous, anxious, dangerous, but all the time it captures the listener very much.

Instrumental trio Port Mone was created in 2005 in Minsk. It was noticed by music critics immediately and was accepted by the judges and public of numerous festivals in a warm manner, for example : Polish Muzyczne Smaki Europy, Russian S.K.I.F. and Pustye Kholmy, LithuanianKultflux, even Tegeran International festival of the doll theatres Mobarak. Two years long the Por Mone performances are significant music events at the Ukrainian Festival  «ArtPole».

Before Port Mone`s visit o Ukraine at the beginning of December, they plan to give concerts in Russia, Finland, , Sweden and in Portugal, at the VIIth International accordion festival in Torres Vedras.

The musicians unite active tour live with creation of new compositions, in particular, music for the the scenes of documentary films. Recently the Port Mone`s plays were used in the staging «Where the water flows up stream» by Swedish choreograph Sirig Docter. At last at the Ukraiian studio “Novator Film” by Stepan Koval the animation film is being created, and the soundtrack for this film is the Port Mone`s music.

The musicians confess, that it is extra interesting for them to work in the projects that unite both music and video, or music and performance.  So, the cooperation of trio Port Mone and vj Makaura can not be caled the accidental one. Music and video intercomplete each their, and let the audience dig into the world of their images deeply. «We got acquainted with Aureli Maknite three years ago at the cinema festival in Vilnius, - the Port Mone accordion player Oleksiy Vorsoba tells.- I was deeply impressed her VJ work at one of the event – it was a magic, thin and delicate selection of image materials for the music work. Moreover this material was the author one, was marked by good taste and professional work of different technique, and his is rather rare characteristics for the Eastern Europe VJ-ing. Later I have learned that Aurelia is one of the most famous artists, who work with photo and video in Lithuania. She has a lot of her own artist projects, but sometimes she is co- author. Now she holds the position of th Manager of the Photo Faculty in Design Colledge (Lithuania). Aurelia is marked by constant interest for the opening new things, which is very close to me. She unites the critical way of thinking and extra rare nowadays unselfishness and disinterestedness. Aurelia is interesting for me both like a person and an artist. That is why in some time after our acquaintance, when we were preparing our album presentation, we decided to invite Aura. And she made her job perfectly – this is not only our impressions, but as well of most of the audience ones.
To my mind , the main thing is that there is no emotional false in her video. Sometimes it is playful, but not the cildish one, sometimes it reminds Japanese engravings, and sometimes monumental art. There is no any lack things – demonstration of unnecessary video opportunities and special effects. There is only observing. Video is conceptual, rather cold and distinct. Images are not direct. This is like documentary film about that things that you can not remember».
