Orkiestra św. Mikołaja is doubtless one of the best folk bands of Poland. It was created in 1988, and since 90s being in the front of this musical direction, determinates its style. Characteristic sound of the compositions is the resilt of combination of different folk singing techniques and original instruments – hurdy-gurdy, bağlama (saz), dulcimer and exotic wind instruments. Works of the band are inspired by Carpathian folklore of Lemky, Hutsuly, Gorale. Author’s arrangements revitalize old melodies and texts always creating a special mystical atmosphere of the performance.
Last time the musicians performed at Ukrainian festival “Sheshory Podil’ski-2008”. This year tour they will present both well known and new songs. One of the band performances will take place in Bakhchisaray, festival “Eastern Gates. ArtPole-Crimea”.
