Yuriy Andrukhovych and the Karbido band (Poland) presented their album “Samogon” in Ukraine

The album promoting tour took place in the five big cities of Ukraine: Uzhgorod, L’viv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovs’k, Ternopil’.
Why it is called “Samogon”? Certainly the project name is metaphorical. It means something home-brewed from the natural products and in addition this must have a singular spiritual power.
The album consists of nine tracks, where eight of them were composed by Polish musicians using lyrics from the poems of Yuriy Andrukhovych. Moreover the lyrics author plays a role which becomes more and more common for him; it is sometimes the role of a reciter of poetry to musical accompaniment and sometimes the role of a vocalist. The ninth track of “Samogon” is an ancient Cossack song “Zelenaya Lishchynonka” with a joint arrangement of Yuriy Andrukhovych and Karbido.
The band called Karbido is a totally unique mixture of music and alternative culture with a distinct rock and free-jazz elements’ domination. The band’s creative peculiarity is in creation of music accompaniment to experimental theatre performances, movies and animations. Besides Karbido each of the musicians does his own solo projects regarding theatre and independent radio stations. E.g. Tomash Sikora is a creator, founder and regular presenter of the Internet radio station Garage Hermetique which broadcasts one of the most interesting programs of independent alternative and vanguard music.
Also in the tour will take part the “CUBE” VJ-band. The VJs prefer to show not just computer generated pictures but real shootings such as extracts from little known art-house films, their own photo and video shootings, live interactive camera. The VJs take part not only in the “common” for them rave parties and discos but also in some rock music and even in some literary projects.
