The Cossacks’ Island Festival on the Khortytsya island

The agency ArtPole developed a script and played a role of organizer of the Cossacks’ Island Festival on an island Khortytsya in Zaporizhzhya. The event was devoted to the traditional Cossacks’ boat called tchayka (“a seagull”), the crew of which tries to prove everybody that it is possible to cross the oceans in it and to expand the geography of the past Cossacks’ sea campaigns.

In the frameworks of the festival there were conducted folk handicraft workshops (like in blacksmithing, wattling and pottery), and a workshop for kids “Artistic Pastime”, also there were performed plays of a horse theatre “The Cossacks of Zaporizhzhya” and of the Lviv Les’ Kurbas Theatre; performance of a kobza-player Vasyl’ Lytvyn and fairy-tales of Sashko Lirnyk; show of the Cossacks’ martial art by the Ukrainian association “Spas”; and the concert featuring such bands as Propala Gramota, Viy, Ocheretyanyi Kit, TopOrchestra and Haydamaky.
